I love J.Crew and I am pretty certain I always will. (Some how J.Crew manages to get my money with each new roll-out. I may not be completely on-board with its latest styling techniques, but certain individual pieces are luscious must-haves for me.)However, I have a real affection for the collection from 2005 through 2008. I know I am living in the past, but J.Crew put out some amazing items back then. I often flip through my catalogs from that time frame and kick myself for not getting an item or two when they were available. (And the smiling faces of the happy models helps put me in a good mood too!)
Thankfully there are places like eBay (and the JCA Weekly Exchange of course!) to help me regain those missing pieces to round out my own private collection.
Through some meticulous stalking and a lot of patience, I have been able to get some amazing pieces. Including the ones shown in the images of this post like the Printed Silk Twill Dress (Item 83778; $198.00) & the Vintage Violet Shirtdress (Item 85833; $325.00). How gorgeous are they!?!So what is the point of this post? With all the places that J.Crew looks to for inspiration (from their partners to artists to other designers), I hope they take the time to look at themselves from just a few years ago.
More importantly, I hope they decide to "borrow the look" from a few of those pieces and bring them back. Much like they did last Fall when they introduced the lovely Wool Herringbone Professor Blazer (Item 17375; $198.00), whose predecessor is the amazing Double-Faced Wool Lexington Jacket (Item 85798; $250.00) from 2007. I think they would be surprised how well their "old" collection works with their latest collection. :)
