OK, here's the scoop on the tax-exempt weekend: JC CS says their online system should automatically deduct the sales tax for clothing being shipped to states that do this (the shipping destination is key). If it doesn't, for some reason, all you need to do is call CS, give them the order number, and they will refund the tax.I think it is great that J.Crew is automatically honoring tax-free shopping for customers in states running this promotion. Go J.Crew! :)
I recommend that anyone interested in taking advantage of the tax holiday find some info online on the specific restrictions for their state (I don't know if they're all the same or not.) In NC, AppGal (and as Rebecca pointed out), your total order can be whatever, but the price of an individual item cannot exceed $100. And accessories are excluded.
